Ghost provides general fitness and nutrition information, not medical diagnosis or treatment. Wearable and self-reported data can be incomplete or imprecise. Do not use Ghost to make medical or therapeutic decisions. Stop activity that causes pain, and consult a physician or qualified registered dietitian when guidance may affect a medical condition, pregnancy, medication, an eating-disorder history, or a clinically prescribed diet.

Each section below explains what Ghost actually does, what it cannot do, and the published references behind it. Nothing here is personalized medical advice.

AI meal estimates

OpenAI estimates foods, portions, calories and macros from text or a photo you select. Results are estimates, not measurements. This route does not directly query USDA FoodData Central; the references below help you independently check foods, labels and portions. Hidden oils, preparation method, serving size, mixed dishes, brands and recipes can all change results. Review and edit before saving.

Calorie and macronutrient targets

Ghost estimates resting energy with the Mifflin–St Jeor equation, then applies the activity level and goal adjustment you select in the app. The multipliers, fixed adjustments, calorie floor and macro allocations are Ghost heuristics, not individualized medical thresholds.

Protein for exercising adults

Ghost compares logged protein with your current daily target as general meal-planning context. It does not diagnose deficiency or prescribe therapeutic nutrition.

Nutrition after exercise

After a logged workout, Ghost may suggest a normal meal containing protein and carbohydrate. It is optional. It is not a universal timing window and not an instruction to replace every active calorie.

Recovery signals as context

Ghost compares available wearable and check-in signals with your own recent pattern. Signals can disagree with each other or be imprecise. Ghost presents an optional proposal and does not change a workout until you confirm it.

Sleep and training context

Sleep is one input alongside your check-in and personal baseline. Ghost does not infer a condition and does not apply a universal sleep-hour prescription from a single night.

Pain and exercise safety

Ghost uses only your own reported pain response. It does not diagnose injury, does not prescribe treatment, and never changes a workout automatically.

Optional general activity

On a planned rest day Ghost may mention optional comfortable movement. It does not prescribe a fixed dose and does not claim treatment or guaranteed recovery.
